Bond Wolfe Auctions raises £11.4 million in second sale of the year
Bond Wolfe Auctions’ second West Midlands auction of the year at The Holte Suite, Aston Villa FC, was another outstanding success with £11.4 million raised and 91 properties sold out of 108 offered.
Chief executive Gurpreet Bassi said the percentage sold at 85% was a very strong result with auctioneers Graham Carter and Philip Arnold working hard to achieve good results in another packed auction room.
Residential highlights included a two bedroom cottage in the highly sought-after area of Lapworth which sold for £232,000 from a guide price* of £99,000+. There was fierce competition in the auction room for the cottage at 209 Old Warwick Road.
In Watery Lane, Alvechurch a lot offering over 4.5 acres of land and containing a small working equestrian yard of five stables and outbuildings sold for £130,000 from a guide price of £70,000+.
There was also strong bidding for 166 Tennal Road in Birmingham, a three bedroom mid-terraced property in Harborne which sold for £212,500 from a guide price of £99,000+.
In affluent commuter land, 229 Kenilworth Road in Balsall Common, a three bedroom semi-detached house sold for £270,000 from a guide price of £150,000+.
One of the hottest lots of the day was 3 Carlyle Road in Edgbaston, Birmingham, which has been converted into three self-contained flats. Offered with a guide price of £100,000+, the hammer eventually fell after a protracted battle in the auction room for £316,000.
Further afield, 16 Orton Road in Leicester, a three bedroom semi-detached house in Leicester, sold for £136,000 from a guide price of £50,000.
Commercial lots fared well as well, with a vacant freehold end terrace property at 266 Newton Road, Great Barr, realising £206,000 from a guide price of £99,000+.
Ian Tudor, managing director of Bond Wolfe Auctions, said they were very pleased with the results of the firm’s second auction since its launch in January 2019.
“Our second auction shows that our first auction result of £16.7 million was definitely not a one-off and we are delighted with the interest and support shown by our longstanding clients and friends.”
Attention now turns to Bond Wolfe Auctions’ next West Midlands auction on Wednesday 3 July, once again at the regular venue of the Holte Suite, Aston Villa FC, kicking off at 10.30am.
