Traditional values, modern solutions

Do you have a property to sell or let?

A Telford bungalow and a potential development opportunity in Market Drayton are among the Shropshire homes going under the hammer at Bond Wolfe Auctions’ next auction on Wednesday 28 October, with guide prices starting way below current market values.

A potential bargain can be found in a two bedroom mid-terraced house in Oswestry, entered for sale with a guide price* of just £39,000-£44,000 in the online-only, live-streamed auction on Wednesday 28 October.

Berwyn Villas at 3 Whittington Road, Oswestry, offers two reception rooms and a kitchen on the ground floor with two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs, with gardens outside, gas fired central heating and UPVC double glazing.

At the other end of the scale, a three bedroom detached cottage in the hamlet of Hopstone, near Claverley, is listed with a guide price of £200,000-£220,000, offering a rare opportunity to own an attractive cottage in an idyllic rural location.

Rock-Vale Cottage is an attractive stone cottage believed to date from the early 19th Century and occupies a generous-sized triangular-shaped plot but is in need of modernisation.

On the ground floor, the cottage has a lounge with an attractive stone fireplace, a reception room with a Stockton wood burning boiler, kitchen, bathroom and a separate WC, with the three bedrooms occupying the first floor. Outside it is surrounded by established gardens, with off-road parking and arear workshop.

Gurpreet Bassi, chief executive of Bond Wolfe Auctions, said: “We continue to see a lot of properties coming to the market with low guide prices, often because refurbishment or modernisation work is needed.

“That provides an opportunity for property investors, young house hunters and those looking for something out of the ordinary. These guide prices are well below the market value for properties in these attractive areas and we expect considerable interest in the lead-up to our online auction event later this month. On the day bidding is likely to be very competitive.”

Also listed for sale on the day is a two bedroom, semi-detached bungalow at 17 Millfields Road, in the Wellington area of Telford, with a guide price of £50,000+. It is in need of modernisation but already has gas fired central heating and double glazing.

For those with an interest in the rental market, a five bedroom house in Market Drayton comes with existing planning permission to convert it from two apartments into four self-contained one bedroom flats.

The end-terraced property at 40 Stafford Street, Market Drayton, has a guide price of £225,000+ and extends over three floors with gardens to the front and rear. It has the benefit of gas fired central heating however it would benefit from some modernisation.

The Shropshire homes are among a catalogue of 212 properties to be offered on Wednesday 28 October in what will be the fourth online auction held by Bond Wolfe Auctions since COVID-19 restrictions were introduced in March

In 2020, year to date, Bond Wolfe Auctions has sold 685 lots raising £72.5 million.
